BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City crews will complete asphalt paving at a recent utility cut, resulting in the temporary closure of a section of North Union Street Thursday, June 8.

The section of North Union Street affected by this temporary road closure is:

  • North Union Street, from Capital Avenue NE to Sherman Road

Neighbors living along the above-mentioned section of North Union Street will still have access to and from their homes, during the temporary road closure.

Crews expect the asphalt paving to start at 7 a.m. and be completed by noon, after which the road closure will reopen.

A temporary road closure will also be in place along a section of Riverside Drive, as city crews complete removal of a tree limb that is obstructing truck and bus traffic, Thursday, June 8.

The section of Riverside Drive affected by this temporary road closure is:

  • Riverside Drive, from just south of Brookfield Drive to just north of Shortridge Road

The tree limb removal should begin at 9 a.m. and be completed in around 30 minutes, with the road closure reopening once work is finished.

The following is a suggested detour route during this temporary road closure:

  • Northbound Riverside Drive traffic: Turn left on Shortridge Road, turn right on Christy Road, turn right to continue on Christy Drive, turn right on Beckwith Drive, turn right on Brookfield Drive, and then turn left to resume northbound on Riverside Drive
  • Southbound Riverside Drive traffic: Turn right on Brookfield Drive, left on Beckwith Drive, turn left on Christy Drive, turn left to continue on Christy Road, turn left on Shortridge Road, and then turn right to resume southbound on Riverside Drive
