BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — City contractors began work on the final stage of the Capital Avenue sewer line replacement project this week, with lining slated for sections of Orleans Avenue and Grandview Court.
Contractors are working on lining sewer manholes along the following specific sections of Orleans Avenue and Grandview Court:
- Orleans Avenue, from Foster Avenue to Capital Avenue SW
- Grandview Court, from Capital Avenue SW to Grand Boulevard
There are no expected road closures or detours during this sewer manhole lining work, however neighbors are encouraged to be aware of crews and equipment in the area.
Contractors expect the work to be completed by early next week, at the latest.
This sewer manhole lining work is the final stage of the Capital Avenue sewer lining replacement project that had resumed last fall. This project added a lining to a 24-inch to 30-inch sanitary sewer main, in the east-central part of the city, that has been deteriorating inside due to naturally occurring hydrogen sulfide gas. The lining will protect the concrete pipe and restore the main to its original thickness. It will also add at least 70 years to the design life of the sewer main.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during all work on our city’s infrastructure.
