[ARCHIVED] City encourages pride in Battle Creek through selfies

Gold theme with City Hall Selfie logo and City of Battle Creek logo.

The city invites all neighbors – and anyone who loves Battle Creek – to participate in the 8th annual #CityHallSelfie Day, set for Tuesday, Aug. 15.

The city has participated in this day of local government and community pride for seven of those eight years – and we have won several awards for our participation. Find video highlights from those events on the city’s YouTube channel, in the #CityHallSelfie playlist.

#CityHallSelfie Day is a celebration of public service, focusing on pride in local government agencies, and celebrating communities. Since 2016, government employees, elected officials, members of the media, and community members have participated.

Participating is as easy as 1-2-3! Here’s what you do

  1. Take a picture of yourself, with a group, with a pet, with your co-workers, friends, or family, in front of Battle Creek City Hall (10 N. Division St.), in front of any city building, or anywhere you love in Battle Creek!

  2. If you have social media, post your photo with the hashtag #CityHallSelfie in the caption. Make sure we see it by tagging the city, too! We are @BattleCreekCity on Twitter/X and Instagram, City of Battle Creek, MI Government on Facebook, and City of Battle Creek, Michigan on LinkedIn.
  3. If you don’t have social media, or want us to post your photo with our photos, send your photo to us! We will include it with the photos our city staff snap to celebrate the day.
Email it to PublicInput@battlecreekmi.gov OR text it to us at 844-673-7474 (this number is our Textedly news and alerts number, and goes to an online inbox, not to any person’s phone). Data and message rates may apply if you text us your photo.

We think #CityHallSelfie day is a great opportunity to showcase all the great work of local government, all the great places in our community, and all of our great city staff and great neighbors! To learn more about the day, visit cityhallselfie.com.

#CityHallSelfie Day is organized by ELGL, the Engaging Local Government Leaders network. ELGL is a professional association with more than 4,000 members who work for and with local governments throughout the United States.
