Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 84 Magnolia Ave.

Car 3 arrived within two minutes to find a two-story home with fire showing on the first and second floors. Squad 2 and Engine 3 arrived to quickly begin a fire attack with a master stream. Crews had to hand a live power line down in the front yard. 

Once the fire was knocked down, Rescue 2, Squad 2, Engine 4, and Engine 5 went inside to finish extinguishing the fire and search for any occupants. Rescue 6 also assisted with extinguishment. 

A quick search of all floors of the home led to crews locating a single occupant, who had died in the fire in a second-floor bedroom. The fatal fire is suspicious and is being investigated by the Fire Marshal. The victim's cause of death is being investigated by the Battle Creek Police Department and the medical examiner.
