BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — SEMCO Energy Gas Company is responding to a reported natural gas leak, from its distribution system, along a section of Minges Road, resulting in a temporary road closure as crews work to fix the leak today, Friday, Sept. 1.

The specific section of Minges Road affected by this temporary road closure is:

  • East Minges Road, from Capital Avenue SW to Lincoln Hill Drive

As of this release, there is no immediate danger to neighbors from this natural gas leak. Neighbors in the vicinity of this area are asked to stay away from the gas leak and responding crews onsite in the road closure area, including pedestrians using the current detour route along Minges Road due to the Capital Avenue SW bridge project.

We will release further updates, as necessary, including when the natural gas leak has been repaired, and the section of Minges Road has been reopened to traffic and pedestrians.
