Other information: At approximately 9 p.m. on Friday night, the Battle Creek Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance, and the Battle Creek Police Department were dispatched to an unknown watercraft accident on Ward Island, in the north end of Goguac Lake.

Car 3, Engine 1, Engine 4, and Boats 1 and 2 (Station 6 crew) responded to the Goguac Lake boat launch. Boat 1 was deployed with the Engine 4 crew and one EMT from LifeCare. Boat 2 was on standby with the Station 6 crew, and Station 1 with the BCPD deployed on a Battle Creek citizen's pontoon boat.

Upon arrival at Ward Island, crews discovered a pontoon had crashed into the island, leaving the driver and her dog stranded. Both occupants were brought to shore and evaluated by BCFD and Lifecare; they were determined to be uninjured. The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.

BCFD would like to thank Matt and Travis Neal, who called for help and helped additional crews with the use of their pontoon boat.
