Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to 207 Freedom Lane for a reported occupied apartment building on fire. Engine 4 arrived within 4 minutes to find a fire on the first floor of the apartment building.

Engine 4 extended a handline for fire attack on the first floor, while Rescue 2 handled search. The fire was under control within 10 minutes. Engine 3 checked for fire extension in the adjoining unit. Engine 5 supplied water, Truck 1 had ventilation, and Rescue 6 supported operations. 

All occupants had exited prior to fire department's arrival. Due to the quick actions of the fire department, the fire was contained to the room of origin.  The Fire Marshal is investigating the fire for its cause.
