BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A juvenile male, of Battle Creek, was taken into custody following reports of shots fired in the Post/Franklin neighborhood yesterday afternoon, Thursday, July 11.
Battle Creek Police responded to several reports of shots being fired in the area of Post Avenue and James Street, in the Post/Franklin neighborhood, yesterday, Thursday, July 11. Officers arrived on scene, at the 100 block of James Street, shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Upon their arrival, officers made contact with a juvenile female and her mother, who were able to identify the male suspect. The juvenile and her mother shared that the suspect had shot a handgun in front of their home, however neither of them had been injured and no damage was sustained to the home. The juvenile female also shared that there was an ongoing domestic relationship between her and the male suspect.
Officers were then able to locate the suspect, a juvenile male, at his home close to the incident. Police were able to take the juvenile male into custody for several weapon offenses, and the firearm was recovered, as well.
The juvenile male, of Battle Creek, is currently lodged at the Calhoun County Juvenile Home.
The BCPD was assisted by the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety in responding to this incident.
