The city’s assistant city manager for operations, Ernesto Reyes, has resigned from the position, effective Aug. 19, 2016.
Reyes came to the City of Battle Creek at the end of February from the City of Pompano Beach, Fla., where he had most recently worked as assistant to the city manager for budget and strategic planning.
This month marked the end of Reyes’ six-month probationary period with the City of Battle Creek, at which time he determined the position was not a good fit and submitted his resignation.
“It is my goal to make sure employees are happy and successful in the jobs they have chosen to do,” said City Manager Rebecca Fleury. “It is the best situation when that works out, but if employees recognize that this is not where they want to be and they are confident enough to move on, we support this fully.”
The ACMO position was created in the spring of 2015. It has been a great benefit to the organization but, as always when a position is vacated, we will take the opportunity to evaluate its impact on our budget and our team.
