BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Battle Creek Police arrested a Battle Creek man, following a shooting incident on West Spaulding Avenue that left one victim in critical condition, Friday, March 28, afternoon.
Police, with the assistance of both the Battle Creek Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance, responded to a report of a shooting incident in the early afternoon hours of Friday, March 28, at a home in the 40th block of West Spaulding Avenue.
Upon their arrival, officers located a male victim with apparent gunshot wounds, from a shooting that occurred just outside of the home, in the driveway area. Two additional individuals were inside the home at the time of the shooting but were not injured. First responders on scene attempted life-saving measures on the victim, before he was transported to Bronson Kalamazoo Hospital where he is currently in critical condition.
Police were able to take a suspect into custody in this incident. The suspect is described as a Battle Creek man in his early 30s. Officers believe that the suspect and victim knew each other. The suspect is currently lodged at the Calhoun County Jail for attempted murder.
This investigation is ongoing by the BCPD, but there is no immediate threat to the public. Additional details will be released as they become available.
