BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – Battle Creek Police arrested a 35-year-old Battle Creek man following an incident involving a large fight and shots fired on West Michigan Avenue Thursday, April 10, afternoon.
Officers responded to the 300 block of West Michigan Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, to reports of a large fight involving an estimated 60 individuals. While enroute to the scene, dispatch provided an update to officers that shots had reportedly been fired at the scene.
Upon their arrival, police interviewed witnesses that shared that the suspect who had fired the gun, a 35-year-old Battle Creek man, had fled the scene. No injuries were reported at the scene.
Additional responding officers quickly located the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Police were able to detain the suspect and located a firearm in the vehicle.
The suspect was lodged at the Calhoun County Jail on several weapon offenses, including carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, and reckless discharge.
The BCPD was assisted by the Emmett Township Department of Public Safety in responding to this incident.
