BATTLE CREEK, Mich. - The community is encouraged to participate in an upcoming public hearing on housing and community development needs at the next City Commission regular meeting Tuesday, April 15.
- Date: Tuesday, April 15
- Time: 7 p.m.
- Location: City Commission Chambers, third floor of City Hall, 10 N. Division St., Battle Creek
- What part of the meeting agenda? After the first public comment period and before the consent agenda
The public hearing will specifically focus on the city's 2025-2029 Consolidated Plan and 2025 Annual Action Plan for the federal Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and the HOME Investment Partnership programs.
Any public comments will help to identify housing and community development needs of low- and moderate-income residents and neighborhoods. Views expressed during the public hearing will be used to inform all U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-funded activities through the CDBG and HOME Investment Partnership programs, including the need for more low- and moderate-income housing, minor home repair, assistance for homeless people, homeless prevention, and other community development needs.
As a reminder, neighbors wishing to share public comments, at any of the appropriate times during the meeting, have up to three minutes.
The city receives approximately $1.2 million each year in CDBG funds and $260,000 in HOME Investment Partnership funds.
