Owners of rental housing are invited to attend the next in a series of dinner and discussion events on Thursday, Sept. 29.
The event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at The Salvation Army, 400 Capital Ave. NE.
The panel discussion will focus on bed bugs, a pesky problem that renters sometimes encounter. Participating in the panel and answering questions from attendees will be two exterminators, city Code Compliance Manager Jason Francisco, and Legal Services of South Central Michigan housing attorney Alisa Parker.
This is part of an outreach effort to area landlords, to help them develop better relationships with nonprofit service providers, and to expand opportunities for homeless families and individuals to find and remain in safe, affordable housing. This is the sixth rental property owners outreach event organized by the Rental Housing Roundtable, part of the Greater Battle Creek Homeless Coalition.
Landlords are invited to attend and RSVP to the city at 269-966-3364 or rentalroundtablebc@gmail.com. Landlords also can register at http://goo.gl/forms/Ztjo8SvOn3.
Participating organizations are Community Action, Legal Services of South Central Michigan, The Haven of Rest Ministries, Summit Pointe Housing, The Salvation Army, Southwest Michigan Community Development Corp. (formerly Neighborhoods Inc.), the Fair Housing Center of Southwest Michigan, the Share Center, S.A.F.E. Place, and the City of Battle Creek Community Development Division. The event is sponsored by participating organizations, with funding from the Battle Creek Housing Commission and Summit Pointe Housing.
Attendees will be entered into a drawing to win prizes.
