Through personal donations to wear jeans on Fridays in 2016, nearly 100 city employees donated to five community causes.

In a program headed by the Human Resources Department, City Hall employees may wear jeans on Fridays for a $2 apiece donation. At the end of the year, employees suggested community organizations for potential donation, and then voted on the resulting list.

Employees donated a total of $2,150, divided among the following community organizations:

  • S.A.F.E. Place
  • Food Bank of South Central Michigan
  • Wounded Warrior Project
  • Inasmuch House
  • The Haven of Rest Ministries

“We are thrilled, once again, to support causes in our community,” said Assistant Human Resources Manager Jennifer Rosa. “This is one of the ways we can participate with those organizations working to make our community great.”

City employees also planned to participate in today’s Charitable Union Community Jeans Day.
