[ARCHIVED] Landlords invited to next dinner and discussion event

Landlord dinner and discussion

Owners of rental housing in the City of Battle Creek are invited to the next in a series of dinner and discussion events – this one on improving landlord-tenant relationships.

The event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. next Thursday, Feb. 23, at The Salvation Army, 400 Capital Ave. NE.

Members of the Greater Battle Creek Homeless Coalition will host the event, including a discussion on how coalition members and landlords can improve outcomes for low-income renters. Coalition members will offer examples of successes and there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

The is part of an outreach effort to area landlords, to help them develop better relationships with nonprofit service providers, and to expand opportunities for homeless families and individuals to find and remain in safe, affordable housing. This is the seventh rental property owners outreach event organized by the Rental Housing Roundtable, part of the Greater Battle Creek Homeless Coalition.

Landlords are invited to attend and RSVP to the city at 269-966-3364 or rentalroundtablebc@gmail.com.

Participating organizations are Community Action, Legal Services of South Central Michigan, The Haven of Rest Ministries, Summit Pointe Housing, The Salvation Army, Southwest Michigan Community Development Corp., the Fair Housing Center of Southwest Michigan, The Share Center, S.A.F.E. Place, and the City of Battle Creek Community Development Division. The event is sponsored by participating organizations, with funding from the Battle Creek Housing Commission and City of Battle Creek Community Development.

Attendees will be entered into a drawing to win prizes.
