[ARCHIVED] Police arrest suspects in two recent incidents

Battle Creek police have arrested three juvenile suspects in the recent Cliff Street shooting, and one man in a recent child abuse case.


The two incidents are unrelated.


Cliff Street shooting

The shooting took place at around 9:30 p.m. on April 4, in the area of Cliff and Mott streets, near Cliff Street Grocery. One victim, 18-year-old Eric Thomas, was shot in the face. He currently is in stable condition.


Two of the juveniles are 16 and one is 15. The shooter is charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm. The other two are charged with armed robbery.


Police believe they have arrested all suspects in this incident.


Child neglect case

Police responded to Bronson Battle Creek Hospital on the evening of March 22, for a report of a 4-year-old suffering from suspected neglect. Three other children found at the Emmett Street home were placed in alternate living situations during the investigation.


Issac Miller, who lives in Battle Creek, turned himself in and is charged with second-degree child abuse/neglect.


The 4-year-old is in stable condition, in much better health. The three other children remain in alternate living situations.
