[ARCHIVED] Consumers Energy to trim trees in southern area of city

Consumers tree trim map July2017

A contractor for Consumers Energy will trim trees around power lines on streets mainly between Capital Avenue SW and Riverside Drive to the south, near Beckley Road.

Please refer to the attached map of the work area, which is comprised of sections of Capital, Riverside, and Beckley, as well as, west to east: West Hamilton, Mason, Rebecca, Christy (Road and Drive), Shortridge, Birchhill, Brookfield, Reyn, and East Hamilton.

This area has become a high priority for trimming, due to four tree-related power outages since April, compared to six outages in the prior two years.

The work may start as soon as the end of this week; an exact start will depend on completion of current work. It is expected to take about a week once they start, and 15 trucks will work in the outlined area, working 10-hour days.

Neighbors in these areas already should have received notification of the work, either in person or via a door hanger. Anyone with questions should contact Erik Butchart at Consumers Energy, 269-969-8679 or erik.butchart@cmsenergy.com.
