[ARCHIVED] Activity to assess City Hall continues Monday

CityHall1

Beginning Monday, City Hall visitors will see an increase in activity around the building, as two engineering firms continue a comprehensive structural assessment.

Lifts and scaffolding will be used to conduct the building assessment. Work is scheduled Monday through Wednesday of next week and, beyond that, will take place as needed, dependent on the findings. The city will provide necessary updates so neighbors and visitors can do business with us.

The work is a result of a piece of the building façade broke away on June 14 during repair work. A Building Restoration Inc. worker suffered a minor injury, and the piece broke a first-floor window. The suspected cause of the break at that time was water damage.

Building Restoration will be joined by Grand Haven architectural and engineering firm WJE.

The cover in place over the east, public entrance of the 100-year-old City Hall will remain, a safety measure as this work continues. The building remains open for regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
