[ARCHIVED] Flooding closes some Linear Park sections, several roads

W Michigan

As we often experience this time of year, after heavy rains, the high water level of the Battle Creek River required the closure today of various sections of the Linear Park path, and two street sections.

The path currently is closed under the Emmett Street bridge, near Wagner Drive, as well as under the West Michigan Avenue bridge, downtown.

There also are sections of the path underwater along Jackson Street, from Angell to Stringham; and at Bailey Park.

Barricades are blocking the path in many these locations until the water level drops again.

There also are two road closures due to flooding:

  • Division Drive -- Turnberry Lane to 3 1/2 Mile Road
  • Stone Jug Road -- Gethings to Ridgeview

Our Field Services staff is out monitoring conditions across the city. There are some areas with partial travel lane coverage with water.

Please use caution in these areas, and try to avoid flooded recreation areas and streets. Do not drive over a road completely covered in water.
