Master plan consultant to lead more public meetings, gather additional input.
Battle Creek Transit invites back the community to public meetings next week, to hear a presentation of possible future service scenarios.
The meetings are part of Transit’s ongoing master plan process, as staff consider the direction of Transit services for the next five years.
They are set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. next Monday, March 12, and 10 a.m.-noon next Tuesday, March 13. Both will be at the city’s Department of Public Works, 150 S. Kendall St.
Like the public meetings in December, those who will ride the bus to the meeting can take a shuttle from the downtown bus transfer center to Public Works, and back. The shuttle will leave the transfer center at 5:20 p.m. Monday, and 9:50 a.m. Tuesday. After each meeting, the shuttle will return attendees to the transfer center, and provide a trip ticket for the ride home.
On Monday, regular bus service will be extended to 9:15 p.m. to accommodate meeting attendees.
Those who live in Battle Creek area and wish to attend a meeting, but don’t live near a bus route, will not be charged to use Tele-Transit for transportation to and from Public Works. Contact Transit dispatch at 269-966-3474 to join the trip list.
Consultant Foursquare ITP will lead the meetings, presenting a variety of scenarios and concepts for Transit service, and gathering feedback on those. Foursquare also will present this information to Transit staff, other stakeholders, and the Public Transportation Committee, the latter meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday, also at the Department of Public Works. The PTC also will discuss Transit mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
