Another phase of Battle Creek Police Department building construction will change traffic flows next week around the Division Street site.
- Starting Monday, March 12: The north service drive from Division Street to the Calhoun County Justice Center parking lot will be restricted to one-way, entrance-only traffic.
- Two-way traffic will be allowed on the new service drive into the Justice Center parking lot, off of John Patterson Way.
The traffic flow changes will accommodate work on the retaining wall along the north service drive, and is expected to last for about two weeks. Signs will be posted in the area.
Construction started May 17 on the total $15.5 million project. The new building is designed to provide much-needed space to police staff, as well as community spaces, helping better connect police and the community.
The new Police Department site is across John Patterson Way from the current department. The entire building process is expected to take approximately 18 months – opening this fall – with changes in traffic flow and parking around Battle Creek City Hall and the current Police Department.
The city will communicate via our website, social media, and area media outlets as phases progress and any changes are made to traffic and parking locations around the building site.
