[ARCHIVED] Work begins today on Weeks Ave water main project

Tree trimming begins this afternoon, and a Riverside Drive road closure is set for Tuesday for the Weeks Avenue water main replacement project.

Field Services crews will trim trees along Weeks, between Riverside and Capital Avenue SW. The work will begin this afternoon, and continue into tomorrow – Tuesday, May 15. The work is to assist with overhead clearance for the contractor’s project equipment.

Also tomorrow, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Riverside Drive will close completely at Weeks Avenue. Signs will be posted for a detour, using Columbia Avenue, Capital Avenue SW, and Golden Avenue. Emergency vehicles will not have access.

Water will be shutoff to neighbors in this area for most of Tuesday’s work time. This will be approximately on Weeks, from Riverside to Kirkpatrick Drive, and on Riverside from Golden Avenue to Columbia. Neighbors who will be affected by the shutoff should have received a door hanger with this information.

Weeks Avenue will remain closed to thru traffic until the water main replacement is complete, which is expected to take about six weeks. The city will release information on upcoming phases of the project as it progresses, and staff appreciate everyone’s patience as we improve our infrastructure.
