Chip seal treatment begins next week
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — The first group of city streets are scheduled for surface improvements, starting Monday, June 11.
The following streets will be chip sealed, with work taking place from approximately 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Work is expected to finish by June 26, weather permitting.
Beckley Rd - 250 feet east of Stone Jug Rd.
Betz Rd - Division Dr. to Beckley Rd.
Cascade Ct - South Lakeside Dr. to Cascade Dr.
Cascade Dr. - South Lakeside Dr. to Cascade Ct.
Division Dr. - Stone Jud Rd. to Betz Rd.
Hedges Rd. - Carver Rd. to north city limit
Jennings Rd. - Smithfield Rd. to Capital Ave. SW
Lakeshire Rd. - Riverside Dr. to Golden Ave.
Lakeshire Dr. S - Smithfield Rd. to Jennings Rd.

The work is being done through the City’s Capital Preventative Maintenance contract. Chip seal is an effective way to extend the life of street pavement, lasting five to six years. Crews apply liquid asphalt and small stone chips, then roll over it.
The streets will remain open and neighbors will have access to their properties. Please plan for intermittent traffic disruptions, which could cause delays.
Please do not park on these streets during work hours; vehicles will be towed.
Residents on these streets will receive door hangers the day before work begins.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during this and all work to maintain our infrastructure. Neighbors on streets set for chip seal treatment should receive a postcard notifying them of this work.
