Routine inspection and cleaning of the city’s sanitary sewer system will begin on Monday, and continue through December.
City contractor Taplin Group LLC will perform the work, part of the city’s routine televising and cleaning plan. “Televising” is inspecting the sanitary sewer lines using cameras. Cleaning takes place as needed.
The work will be widespread, in parts of Bedford, Emmett, Leroy, and Pennfield townships; the City of Springfield; and various areas in the City of Battle Creek. Neighbors will see large Vactor trucks, and medium-sized televising vans doing this work.
All work will take place in public rights of way, and in sanitary sewer easements. Disruption to neighbors will be minimal, and streets will remain open to traffic.
If a road closure becomes necessary during this process, for infrastructure repairs, the city will release that information to our regional media, our website, and social media.
Anyone with questions on this work can contact the city’s Engineering Division, 269-966-3343.
