Through personal donations to wear jeans on Fridays in 2015, nearly 100 city employees donated to five community causes.

In a program headed by the Human Resources Department, City Hall employees may wear jeans on Fridays for a $2 apiece donation. At the end of the year, employees were asked to suggest community organizations for potential donation, then voted on the resulting list.

Employees ended up donating a portion of nearly $2,000 to the following community organizations:

• Calhoun County Shop with a Cop
• LaMora Park Elementary School's Pioneer Days field trip
• S.A.F.E. Place
• Food Bank of South Central Michigan
• God's Kitchen

"We have enjoyed using this program to show our support for the great work others are doing in our community," said City Manager Rebecca Fleury.

City employees also participated in this year's Charitable Union Community Jeans Day, donating $100 to the organization.
