[ARCHIVED] Man arrested on child pornography charges

BCPD_Patch-

The Battle Creek Police Department’s Fusion Center today arrested a 56-year-old man on child pornography charges.

The man’s name is not being released, as he has not yet been arraigned. Arraignment is expected in the next few days.

The man has worked as a substitute teacher in the area. Police do not believe any of the photos seized in this case are of local children.

Police seized three computers belonging to the man, on a property on G Drive North. The warrant was one of several executed after the arrest of Donald Johnston, who was charged last week with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, related to the assault of a 5-year-old boy.

Johnston’s arrest came as part of the Michigan State Police investigation into a child sexual abuse conspiracy ring in several area counties.

Police continue to investigate, and communicate with federal law enforcement agencies on potential federal charges.

Battle Creek Police will release no further information until after the 56-year-old man’s arraignment.
