Review the plan online or in-person, and take the department survey.
The Recreation Department’s master plan – to guide the city in providing recreation programs and services for the community – now is available in draft form for public review.
The plan involves an inventory of related programs and services; consideration of the structure of the department’s staff, budget, and collaborations in the community; and an action plan for the next five years.
Gathering public input is part of any master planning process, and recreation staff have attended Neighborhood Planning Council meetings this fall. A public survey still is available on the city’s home page. Visit www.battlecreekmi.gov and scroll down to City Spotlight.
The public review period for the draft master plan is Monday, Dec. 10 until Tuesday, Jan. 15. The plan is available online at the city’s website, at the same location as the survey, and on the Recreation Department website, www.bcparks.org.
Paper copies of the plan are available for review at Full Blast, 35 Hamblin Ave.; the City Manager’s Office, Room 206 at City Hall, 10 N. Division St.; and at Willard Library, 7 Van Buren St.
Send comments to Recreation Director Duska Brumm at firstname.lastname@example.org, by phone at 269-966-3545 or by mail to 35 Hamblin Ave., Battle Creek MI 49017.
The Recreation Department will hold two open houses at Full Blast, 35 Hamblin, to review the plan with neighbors in the Battle Creek community. Join staff from 12-1 and 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18 and again on Thursday, Jan. 10.
McKenna Associates Inc., of Northville, is the city’s consultant for the master plan project.
