[ARCHIVED] Police continue investigation into suspicious death

Police continue to investigate the death of 58-year-old Howard Leon Gillette after a fire at his home early on New Year’s Day.

The Fire Department was called at 12:46 a.m. Tuesday for a fire at 250 Graves Avenue. At 1:02 a.m., police were called when the 58-year-old homeowner, Gillette, was found deceased in the home.

Gillette died of apparent gunshot wounds, and officials found the possible presence of an accelerant, related to the fire.
