E-2 made entry to check for fire extension. The fire did not extend into the home. T-6 ventilated the smoke out of the structure. SQ-6 assisted with removing the rear siding to check for any hidden fire. R-3 and E-5 were cleared soon after arrival. The owner reported that he discarded hot metal, from vehicle repairs, into a trash receptacle at the rear of the home. The owner then went inside some time later. Neighbors alerted the owner that the rear of the home was on fire and all occupants exited safely.
