Other information: BCFD responded to a reported structure fire. Upon arrival of first crew, Rescue 4 found heavy fire on front porch and front of house. There were electrical lines down in the front yard that crews had to work around. Rescue 4 knocked fire down in front from outside and, due to down power lines, made an interior fire attack from back door. There was a small fire in the front that spread to the eaves of the house. The wind played a factor in spreading fire quickly on outside of home. Other crews arrived and helped with the interior attack.
A neighbor was able to get three dogs out of home and BCFD rescued two cats. One dog did not survive the fire.Occupant and her children were out of town; a neighbor and brother were watching the house. Fire appears to have started on front porch due to discarded smoking materials. Fire remains under investigation by Fire Marshal Jones. BCFD responded with 18 firefighters and two command officers.
