City officials are asking neighbors to be alert to unlicensed, door-to-door solicitation, especially related to recent storm damage and construction work.
Battle Creek was in the line of a hail storm earlier this month, which left home and vehicle damage in its wake. City staff have received calls since then about individuals going door-to-door, soliciting work in areas affected by the storm.
A vendor’s permit is required for companies and/or individuals to sell their products and/or services door-to-door.
All valid, active vendors will have an identification badge issued by the City Clerk’s Office.
Neighbors should feel free to ask for identification from someone who claims to be a licensed vendor.
