Other information: The Battle Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 44 Janoah Ave. Car 3 and Rescue 3 arrived to find the home well involved on both first and second floors, with heavy front porch involvement. No one was living in the dwelling and it was undergoing renovations. Construction workers advised that they were working in the home when fire broke out in the front porch area. Everyone was able to safely exit the fire.
R-3, Engine 2, Rescue 4, Truck 6 and Squad 6 proceeded with a defensive fire attack due to heavy fire involvement. The fire was under control in 45 minutes. Crews then re-positioned for overhaul operations.
One firefighter suffered a back injury while on scene, however is not anticipated to miss any time from work. The fire marshal is on scene investigating the cause of the suspicious fire.
