[ARCHIVED] City to host energy code training, public info session

The city will host a two-hour Michigan Residential Energy Code training session next Thursday, March 10, as well as a public information session about general changes to the state building code.

The training session will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Department of Public Works building, 150 S. Kendall St. Tim Mrozowski, of Michigan State University’s School of Planning Design and Construction, will conduct the training.

This training session will focus on the new energy code provisions included in Chapter 11 of the 2015 Michigan Residential Code, which went into effect on Feb. 8. The information presented will target building officials, inspectors, engineers, architects, home builders, contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers. The course number is 18315 and it is approved Act 54 continuing education.

Registration is required to attend this session. Please contact the City of Battle Creek Inspections Division at 269-966-3382 by Tuesday, March 8.

Following the training session, the city will host a free public forum to discuss changes to the Residential Building Code. After a short break, the public session will be held from 7:40 to 8:30 p.m.
