Road closure on Michigan Ave. W. Downtown
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – On Friday, Oct. 11, beginning at 1 p.m., West Michigan Avenue in front of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (WKKF) will be closed.
A contractor hired by WKKF will be installing a new roof on their building. During this work, West Michigan will be closed to all traffic between WKKF and Capital Avenue Southwest. Emergency vehicles will not have access. This section of sidewalk will also be closed.
The road and sidewalk will reopen on Monday, Oct. 14, at 7 a.m.
This work will impact Battle Creek Transit’s 3E Main-Post bus route this Friday and Saturday. Beginning at 1 p.m. Friday, the bus detour will be Main Street to Hamblin Avenue. The bus will not service the stops in front of WKKF, at Michigan and Division, or at First United Methodist Church. Anyone who would normally use those stops should catch the bus from the stop on Pittee Street, behind the Liberty Food Center.
The work will take place over two more weekends causing closures. We will send updates to media, the city’s website, and on social media as soon as they are available.
Motorists and pedestrians are advised to seek alternate routes.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during this and all work.
