Other information: Battle Creek Fire Department responded to a reported occupied structure fire in a 4-unit housing complex. The fire started in the kitchen of the first end unit of 41 S. 22nd Street. It started in the kitchen and spread to the rest of the home. Engine 4 was the first engine on scene and confirmed everyone was out of the fire unit but still conducted a primary search and fire attack. The bulk of the fire was quickly extinguished. Engine 2 was assigned to do a primary search of the next unit, 43 S. 22nd Street, and check for fire extension. They were able to determine the unit was not occupied. The unit had no fire extension but a lot of smoke damage. Housing unit 45 and 47 received no damage. Residents affected were taken care of by Red Cross. BCFD responded with 3 engines, 2 aerial apparatus, 1 squad, and a command car, for a total of 18 firefighters and 1 Battalion Chief on scene.
