[ARCHIVED] Got mail from the city? Don’t miss your chance to shape Battle Creek’s future

City survey timeline: Postcards mailed 6/30, surveys mailed 7/7, survey opens 7/28, closes 8/11

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — If you live in the City of Battle Creek, you may have received an envelope from the city last week — or maybe it’s still waiting on your counter. Now’s the time to open it!

The city is working with Polco to conduct the 2025 National Community Survey, and 3,000 randomly selected households were invited to participate in this first phase of the survey. If you’re one of them, please take a few minutes to respond. Your input is confidential and helps guide city planning and services.

How it works:

  • Early July: 3,000 households receive a postcard with a QR code and link to take the survey online. Most postcards began arriving last week.
  • One week later: A paper version arrives for those who prefer to respond by mail. If you’ve already completed it online, no need to return the paper version.
  • July 28: A community-wide version of the survey opens to all residents. It includes the same questions as the invitation-only version.
  • August 11: Both surveys close.

The city conducts this survey every three years to better understand residents’ experiences, priorities, and satisfaction with city services. Results help city leaders make informed decisions about planning, policies, and improvements.

“This is one of the most important ways we hear directly from our community,” said Breanne Humphreys, communications manager for the City of Battle Creek. “We encourage you to take a few minutes to share your thoughts. Your feedback plays a key role in shaping the future of our city.”

Want to take the community-wide survey?
